Top-Ten Business School

  • The Independent's Complete University Guide 2010 rated the Business School as 6th for Accounting & Finance, and 7th for Business Studies.
  • The Times' 2010 Good University Guide saw the Business School ranked 4th for Accounting & Finance and 7th for Business Studies.
  • In the 2008 National Student Survey (NSS), the Business School was ranked 4th for Management Studies, joint 5th for Accounting, and 9th for Finance, further underlining its ‘top-ten’ reputation.

International Esteem

  • The Business School became EQUIS accredited in November 2008, which confers international recognition to the excellence of our activities and places us amongst only 5% of business schools in the world to have achieved this prestigious accreditation.
  • The Loughborough MBA is fully accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), and was re-accredited by AMBA for the maximum five years in 2008.

High Quality Teaching

  • Assessments of teaching quality by the Quality Assurance Agency have placed Loughborough University in the top flight of UK universities.
  • Loughborough University’s teacher training has been rated among top-ten in the UK, by the Good Teacher Training Guide 2008-09. The University was ranked 9th out of 73 higher education institutions in the league table, which is published by the Centre for Education and Employment Research at the University of Buckingham.
  • In teaching quality assessments conducted by The Sunday Times since 1995, Loughborough has ranked 2nd in the UK after Cambridge.
  • Rated 5th for 'overall satisfaction' in the 2009 National Student Survey by The Sunday Times

World-Class Research

  • The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirmed that ten of Loughborough’s departments have over 20% of their research judged to be world leading. Loughborough submitted over 94% of its academic staff for the RAE assessment, one of the highest returns of any university in the country.
  • A UK Top 20 university based on research funding from HEFCE(the Higher Education Funding Council for England) and the only one in this shortlist without a medical school.
  • The Times Higher named Loughborough as one of three rising stars among research-intensive universities
  • In 2006, the University was invited to join the esteemed 1994 Group (a set of internationally recognised, research-intensive universities) in recognition of its quality research achievements as well as excellent levels of teaching and student experience.

Fostering Enterprise & Innovation

  • The University has been awarded six Queen's Anniversary Prizes, an achievement only surpassed by Oxford University, which has seven. Loughborough has won awards for its collaboration with aerospace and automotive companies such as BAE Systems, Ford and Rolls Royce; for its work in developing countries; for pioneering research in optical engineering; for its world-leading role in sports research, education and development; for its outstanding work in evaluating and helping to develop social policy-related programmes; and for its vehicle, road and driver safety research.

Environmentally Friendly and Responsible Citizen

  • The University purchases 50% of its electricity from green sources and 50% from low carbon generation. The University also operates two Combined Heat and Power Plants. These initiatives help to reduce our CO2 emissions by 17,600 tonnes per annum compared with conventional electricity generation.

2003-2004 Rankings

The Times & Times Higher, May 2004, placed the School 9th equal with Imperial College out of all UK business schools.

The Times, May 2004, ranked the University 2nd for Teaching Quality.

The Sunday Times, 14 September 2003, ranked the School 13th overall.

The Financial Times, 10 May 2003, noted the Lambert Report’s write-up of the collaboration between the Business School and Ford College as a very positive example of industry working with academia.

The Times, 7 May 2003, ranked the School 12th overall.
Business Britain, March 2003, honoured the School with its ‘Executive MBA Programme of the Year 2003/2004’ award.

The Guardian, 3 August 2003, awarded the School the distinction of ‘Cool School’.
