Loughborough Teaching
Our teaching has been officially rated as 'Excellent' by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. This, together with outstanding ratings for research and consistently high League Table rankings, confirms our standing as one of the leading Business Schools in Europe. The University has consistently ranked in the top 3 for overall teaching by The Times Good University Guide, and, just this summer, The Times' 2009 Good University Guide saw the Business School ranked 4th for Accounting & Finance and 6th for Business Studies. In the 2008 National Student Survey, students ranked Loughborough University 4th for overall satisfaction in Management Studies, joint 5th for Accounting, and 9th for Finance, further underlining our ‘top-ten’ reputation. Loughborough has won The Times Higher Education ‘Best Student Experience’ award for three years running (2006, 2007 & 2008), as voted for by students across the UK; and in 2007, Loughborough also won Times Higher Education award for ‘Outstanding Support for Overseas Students’.
All our learning material is related to real-life management. This aspect is enhanced by the partnership we have with many commercial organisations and is supported by the salaried year-long professional placements which are an integral part of all our degree programmes. Many leading companies target the Business School when recruiting professional placement trainees. Loughborough students are challenged to develop creative and innovative solutions to contemporary business problems and to develop leadership skills and a sense of community service through curricular and extracurricular activities.
All our degree programmes develop a range of personal skills as well as providing a broad understanding of the core management disciplines and activities. The programmes develop openness, awareness and a desire for excellence with a visionary and proactive view of the future.
Students are encouraged to enhance their presentation skills and to learn to work together effectively and efficiently in groups. Increasing emphasis is placed on developing skills in the use of modern information technology.
Student Support
Our staff work closely with students to ensure the highest quality of teaching, which is supported by Degree Programme Directors, personal tutors for all students, small informal tutor groups, formal feedback systems and an effective staff-student liaison committee.
We offer a spacious, self-contained campus with extensive residential accommodation and outstanding sports facilities, as well as direct access to excellent teaching and learning facilities.
