Information for offer holders

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study at Loughborough University!

Competition for places at Loughborough continues to increase and so you have done extremely well to secure the offer of a place. We very much hope that you will choose to accept your offer and this section has some important information to help you prepare to take up your place.

What Happens Next?

Your offer

  1. Your offer will either be conditional or unconditional. If you have a conditional offer your offer letter from the University will explain what conditions you will need to meet so that your place at Loughborough can be guaranteed. As soon as you have met these conditions be sure to send evidence of this to the relevant Admissions office (as detailed on your offer letter). If your offer is unconditional this means that you have already met all entry requirements for your chosen course and your place at Loughborough is guaranteed.

Accepting your offer

  1. If you have an offer for an undergraduate course you will need to respond to this through UCAS and you will be notified by UCAS of the deadline to do this after you have received decisions from all institutions you applied to. Postgraduate Taught and Research offer holders will need to return the Acceptance and Financial Confirmation forms enclosed with the offer letter. You should do this as soon as possible so that you have enough time to apply for and receive your visa to travel to the UK. Some departments set a deadline for responses and if this applies to your course it will be detailed on your offer letter.

After you have accepted your offer

  1. After you have accepted your offer and met any conditions that you may have you will be sent a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) by email which you will need in order to apply for a visa to come and study in the UK. Make sure that you apply for your visa in good time and do not book your flights until you have received it.
  1. You are also able to apply for accommodation after you have accepted your offer (firmly accepted in the case of undergraduate students) and online applications can be made between mid May and the end of July.
  1. Between August – September you will be sent instructions on how to register, how to pay your fees and the International Office’s Pre-departure Guide. The International Office also runs a number of pre-departure briefings in country so make sure you check the visit calendar to see if there will be one near to you.

Funding opportunities

  1. Loughborough has a central University-funded scholarship programme as well as a number of departmental awards and bursaries. In most cases you will be considered automatically for one of these now that you have received an offer but a small number of departments require offer holders to apply separately for available scholarships. To check on this and to see the full range of awards and bursaries that we offer please visit the International Student Funding section.
