BUE progression paths

Students of the British University in Egypt may apply for progression to Loughborough EITHER at the end of the Preparatory Year OR at the end of their second year of study at the BUE. All students progressing from the BUE to Loughborough will be entitled to a 20% tuition fee bursary.

 1. From BUE preparatory year to enter Loughborough University

LU recognises the BUE preparatory year as an appropriate qualification to enter its degree programmes.  It is expected that students applying to study at Loughborough will have taken a preparatory year in a subject appropriate to their intended degree course.

Entry will be competitive, and applicants will be expected to obtain grades averaging at least 'B' in their studies.  Evidence of strong English language will also be required - either through performance on the BUE programme, or through an external qualification such as IELTS.  Students’ prior achievements at school, their reference and personal statement will also be considered.

2. Progression from BUE year two on to Loughborough University year two

Loughborough has also agreed progression routes for students who have undertaken their preparatory year, plus one further year of degree study at the BUE.

Entry will be competitive, and applicants will be expected to obtain at least average 'B' grades during their study at BUE in order to progress to Loughborough.  Students must also be prepared for some additional study to enable them to cover areas where the BUE and Loughborough programmes differ.

Application process

Applicants should complete the form which can be downloaded below, and submit it to Emad Mohsen in Student Affairs at the British University in Egypt (admission@bue.edu.eg). It is recommended that students complete the form electronically and email it to Emad Mohsen as this will make the process quicker and more efficient.

The British University in Egypt will then complete the reference, provide transcripts and check the grades achieved. After this the application form will be forwarded to the Admissions Office at Loughborough University.

Offers of places to BUE students will be communicated through the Student Affairs Office at the BUE.

There is a formal process whereby students are accepted through the UCAS. In the case of BUE students this will be arranged by Loughborough University AFTER a place has been offered and accepted.

If students wish to apply to several UK Universities including Loughborough, they should use the standard UCAS form, and put Loughborough as one of their choices. The direct application form above should also be and submitted.
