Routes to Knowledge: thinking with other disciplines
Professor Sarah Pink, Department of Social Sciences
Professor Pink’s research is focussed on seeking ways to understand everyday environments as they emerge, as they cross on-line/off-line contexts, and as they are experienced and made by people.
In this lecture she will discuss how people are involved in creating and making sense of the sensory aesthetics of the everyday worlds we are part of – in relation to other elements such as digital media, the weather, food, knowledge and buildings.
Sometimes to answer these questions we need to look across academic disciplines and Professor Pink will discuss why it is important for social scientists to connect with and draw on areas such as media studies, engineering, design, the neurosciences, art and philosophy.
