Unrivalled choice of halls

Over 5,300 students live in University halls on (or very close to) the campus, and are at the very centre of student life. At Loughborough we offer 14 different halls for you to choose from providing you with the best place to start your university life.

From day one you will make friends with fellow students, become part of the hall community and begin your own Loughborough Experience.

There is a wide range of accommodation available to suit every budget and catering preference. We currently are ranked 1st by Unistats for providing the least expensive institution accommodation option in England.

As standard, all rooms have a bed, storage, desk, chair, shelves and a pin board. Depending on your choice of hall, you may have ensuite facilities or a shared bathroom.

As part of your accommodation you will also have access to laundry facilities, a games room, Hallnet (direct access to the University Intranet, with Freeview TV) and a superb hall student committee system.

Allocation of hall places

At Loughborough we provide an innovative online room reservation system for students who apply through UCAS. Once you have your academic offer and have made Loughborough your firm choice, you can reserve a room from May – choose where you want to live from a selection of room types in a variety of locations.

Your reservation for your room type will be held until after you have received your exam results in August. You then pay us a room bond, which becomes a damage deposit and the room is yours.

If the room of your choice is not available you can register your preferences online from May and we will allocate you a room in August once your place at Loughborough is confirmed. This will not guarantee a room type or location, but our accommodation team will use your preferences as a guide to allocate you a room depending on availability.

Following A-Level results, some reserved rooms will no longer be required and subsequently available to students registering preferences.

Please note that if you live in or near Loughborough you may not be offered accommodation at the beginning of your first term. However, should vacancies later arise in halls, you will be eligible to apply for them.

Support

All halls of residence are supported by resident hall Wardens (usually members of staff) and Sub-wardens (usually postgraduate students). They are there to ensure that the Residential Regulations are observed for the benefit of all inhabitants and to look after your welfare and to help you.

You are encouraged to talk to them if you have any problems and they will treat all matters confidentially. Most importantly, they help create a relaxed and informal environment where you can socialise and study in optimum conditions.

Accommodation beyond Year 1

You can apply to remain in hall – many students like to stay in their halls for a further one or two years. International students from outside the EU are guaranteed hall accommodation within the same hall for any two years of their undergraduate study.

Alternatively you can choose to live off-campus.

Living off-campus

There is a high standard of privately owned accommodation in Loughborough. A large selection of accommodation is available, including shared houses, private halls and limited self-contained units.

If you want information about off-campus accommodation, we recommend that you contact our Student Accommodation Centre first.

Our properties are advertised on the Student Pad website and on display boards and handouts in the Centre.
